Cars 'parked' on rooftop draw in curious onlookers [WATCH]

JERLUN: "I never expected this would go viral on social media, as my intention was simply to park two cars on the roof of my house temporarily to set up a tent for a kenduri yesterday.

"However, people came from far away, including from Penang, just to take pictures of the Perodua Kancil and Proton Saga on my roof," said Awang Ali Abdullah, 64.

Awang Ali is a resident of Kampung Matang Bonglai Kechil, Ayer Hitam, who placed his two cars on the concrete roof of his house since last Thursday.

He explained that the idea arose when he found no space to park the two vehicles due to setting up a tent for his grandnephew's kenduri yesterday.

"I decided to use a crane to lift the Perodua Kancil and Proton Saga with the help of my nephews last Thursday.

"In just 30 minutes, the two cars were successfully lifted onto the concrete roof, and I didn't expect that someone would record a video and it would go viral, attracting many people to come and take pictures," he said when met at his home today.

Awang Ali said that the kenduri, attended by more than 1,500 guests yesterday, became even more lively as most guests took the opportunity to take photos with his two cars on the roof.

He plans to leave the two cars on the roof for another week or two to allow the public to take pictures.

"Both cars are still usable; I have been using them for over 10 years, and they are all in good condition.

"I was also surprised when my nephews showed me the viral video on TikTok, and I never imagined it would get so many views," he said.

Meanwhile, the newlywed, Shahira Zamzuri, 27, said she was unaware that her uncle had parked the two vehicles on the roof and only found out the next day.

"I was busy managing the kenduri and had no idea what was happening outside the house. I was informed that the cars had been parked there since last Thursday.

"I only found out when a family member told me there was already a video of the cars on TikTok, and when I saw it, I was shocked but proud because many people reacted positively.

"During the kenduri yesterday, many guests came to tell us that our house had gone viral on social media because of the two cars on the roof," she said.

Additionally, a visit to the location today revealed that many family members and nearby residents had come to Awang Ali's house to see the two cars still on the concrete roof.
