ALOR STAR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating an alleged land fraud case involving forged documents and corruption surrounding a three-acre plot in Kuala Kedah.
According to sources, the MACC has called in three individuals for questioning and obtained relevant documents.
"The focus of the investigation is centred on allegations of corruption and the use of documents believed to be forged for the transfer of ownership of the land. The MACC has identified individuals and agencies suspected of involvement in the case and will be summoning them soon to gather further information," the sources said.
State MACC director Ahmad Nizam Ismail confirmed that the investigation is being conducted under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
A viral TikTok video by user 'Abu Ismail' featured a woman claiming that her father's land, which is under a Temporary Occupation Licence, was "seized" by a former business partner through a forged court document.
She alleged that the partner used a fake court order to lease the land for RM50 a month, ultimately evicting her father.
In another video, a man accused the police of overlooking signs of foul play and "gangsterism."
On Friday, Kota Setar police chief Assistant Commissioner Siti Nor Salawati Saad confirmed that police are investigating the allegations.
She said the probe aims to verify documents linked to the alleged dispute, which dates back to 2013, between the man and his former business partner.
She added that 75 reports have been filed by the two parties, with the case also brought before the court.
She, however, dismissed claims of gang activity being involved in the case.
