KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has reiterated that integrity should not be limited to the government and private sector but must extend to government-linked companies (GLCs), government-linked investment companies (GLICs) and individuals.
He said integrity values, including good governance and practices as well as transparency and accountability, should start from home.
"We are talking about integrity at all levels but integrity must start at home. Hopefully, from there on it will expand to the community and all organisations," Fadillah said after launching the opening ceremony of the National Integrity Month celebration here.
His statement came in the wake of the revelation by the Finance Ministry that Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Permodalan Nasional Bhd lost RM43.9 million from the sale of their minority stakes in FashionValet.
In 2018, Khazanah invested RM27 million and PNB RM20 million for minority stakes in FV. These stakes were later sold for just RM3.1 million.
In response, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he would leave it to the authorities to carry out an investigation into any case involving Khazanah.
Although Khazanah's chairman is the prime minister, Anwar said he would not prevent any investigation into the investment agency.
"If there is any wrongdoing, investigate. If there is any case, prosecute. If there is any wrongdoing, punish. I don't care. Only then, can we govern fairly," he said.
