Addict dad spends aid money on drugs, family forced to seek community help

KUALA LUMPUR: A man is alleged to have spent donations and aid meant for his family on drugs, leaving his wife and children in a state of neglect.

So desperate for help were they that they had to turn to their community for help to purchase basic needs.

According to Kosmo!, the case was highlighted by an officer from the Selangor Zakat Board in a Facebook post by Qalam Qaha Hayat, which prompted the agency to step in and provide support.

"What will become of these innocent children left abandoned due to one individual's reckless desires?

"The head of the family, who should provide stability, has succumbed to addiction, putting his wife and children at risk," he said in the Facebook post.

The officer said the board was committed to helping families in financial distress, aiming to alleviate their burdens rather than support those who misappropriate funds intended for their families.

"When donations or aid are misused for personal indulgences such as drugs, it leaves the wife and children vulnerable, forcing them to rely on the generosity of neighbours and friends," he added.
