Retract claim I got my facts wrong on Padu, Wee tells Rafizi

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong (BN-Ayer Hitam) wants Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli to retract his claim that he was wrong about the development cost of the Central Database Hub (Padu).

The MCA president said Rafizi should also explain the matter in the Dewan Rakyat.

Yesterday, Rafizi denied Wee's claim that the development and implementation of Padu cost up to RM85 million.

He said the cost for the database only reached RM31 million as of September.

Wee said he wanted Rafizi to retract his claim to clear his name after he was accused of getting his facts wrong.

He said the RM85 million figure was widely reported, including by Suara Keadilan, the PKR organ.

Rafizi is PKR deputy president.

"I do not want to refer him to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee, but to clear my name, I ask the Speaker to advise the minister to do something," said Wee.

"This includes retracting his claim against me and giving an explanation in the Dewan Rakyat," he said today.

Wee also held up printed copies of reports to back his claim.

Earlier, Wee, the former transport minister, accused Rafizi of misleading the house, citing Standing Order 36 (12).

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul then asked Wee to send him a letter on his request.

"If I advise (Rafizi), there will be no record of it, so YB, please write a letter to me on what you need from him (Rafizi)."
