Sabah governor charms guests with guitar performance at 71st birthday do

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin enchanted guests with guitar performances of three classic songs during his 71st birthday celebration on Tuesday.

According to The Borneo Post, Juhar played three songs namely One Night by Elvis Presley, A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum, and Angin Malam by Broery Marantika at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort.

Adding to the festive mood were performances by Juhar's daughter, Datin Al Hanna Surya, veteran singer Datuk Khatijah Ibrahim and Sabah-born talent Azharina Azhar.

Azharina delighted the crowd further by performing a duet with Juhar's Communications Secretary Datuk Rashid Mohd Tahir.

The event reached its peak with traditional dances by a troupe comprising members of Sabah's National Culture and Arts Department, APC Dancers and Ala Panggong DBKK who showcased the state's vibrant cultural heritage.

Dignitaries in attendance included Sabah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim Yahya, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam and Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
