Armoured vehicle transporter involved in accident, no injuries reported [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian Army (TDM) armoured vehicle transporter was involved in a road accident on the KL-Karak highway earlier today. There were no injuries or fatalities.

According to a statement, the accident occurred at KM35.2, between the Genting Sempah tunnel and the Gombak toll, in the afternoon.

The Army said the transporter, carrying two Adnan Type A armoured vehicles, was part of a convoy heading from Kem Batu 10, Kuantan, to Kem Syed Sirajuddin, Gemas.

"The accident occurred around 4.45pm when the transporter swerved to avoid a civilian trailer that suddenly switched lanes," the statement read.

The wet road conditions caused the transporter to lose control and veer into the opposite lane.

"The prime mover sustained total damage, but the armoured vehicles were undamaged, and the driver escaped uninjured," TDM said.

Recovery efforts are underway, with a recovery vehicle dispatched from Kem Batu 10 and another transporter from Kem Perdana to tow the damaged vehicle.

"A board of inquiry will be established to determine the exact cause of the accident," the statement added.
