LANGKAWI: An Artificial Intelligence (AI) supported golf simulator, offering players a virtual experience of over 260 of the world's finest golf courses, has become Langkawi's latest tourism attraction.
The first in northern Malaysia, 'Trackman Golf Simulator' (TGS) is a service offered by Tropical Charters Sdn Bhd.
Langkawi District Officer Mohamad Subhi Abdullah said the new feature would provide tourists, especially those keen on recreational activities with a unique experience, with additional options.
"TGS, developed with an investment of RM250,000 and launched today, is bound to attract the public, particularly amateur and professional golfers, to engage in an interactive virtual golfing experience.
"This addition will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the Visit Kedah Year 2025 campaign, kicking off this January," he told reporters after opening TGS at RedSky Restaurant, Pantai Tengah.
Subhi said the simulator not only allows users to share memorable moments with friends and family, but also facilitates online golf tournaments.
Meanwhile, Tropical Charters chief executive officer Datuk Alexander Isaac said the tourism industry must stay proactive and innovative to draw more visitors to Langkawi.
"The Danish technology-powered golf simulator, with access to over 260 premier courses worldwide, enhances the island's current tourism offerings and is suitable for all age groups.
"In addition, Langkawi needs new, premium attractions to lure quality, high-spending tourists who will stay longer," he added.
