KUALA LUMPUR: Empire Sushi has issued an apology after a viral TikTok video went viral showing cockroaches scurrying around the food at one of its outlets in Selangor.
In a statement shared on TikTok, the company said the safety and wellbeing of its customers were top priority.
In response, it also closed the affected store on Nov 8 for a deep cleaning and specialised pest control treatment, ensuring the highest levels of hygiene and safety.
"We are fully committed to resolving this issue and taking more additional measures to prevent any such incident in the future.
"Your trust is incredibly important to us, and we promise to work tirelessly to ensure that your next visit is worry-free," the company said.
Accompanying the statement was a video showing a staff member disposing of what is believed to be the contaminated sushi, followed by others cleaning the utensils, refrigerator and display cabinet.
The footage also showed the pest control inspection and treatment carried out at the outlet.
