KUALA LUMPUR: A recent video of a cockroach found in food served at a bistro in Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur had gone viral.
The 3-second video posted on the X platform shows the diner pointing at the insect that was found in the mail with a fork.
The video was posted by the diner's friend @shvnim who wrote that a complaint has been lodged to the bistro's manager.
"My friend found a cockroach in his meal. He did lodge a report to the manager and was offered a free meal and apology but this is unacceptable, so disgusting (that) he threw up after that," she captioned the video.
She also tagged the Health Ministry's social media account in the post and asked them to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, netizens also expressed their dissatisfaction in the comment section.
"If you find a cockroach, just imagine how they might be preparing your food—perhaps not even washing all the raw ingredients properly. For the food to reach customers, it has to go through multiple stages, so if a cockroach is found, it raises concerns about cleanliness at every step," wrote a user.
"The restaurant has a reputation for being dirty. There have been reports about it before, and the food is often spoiled. It's strange how the management handles things there," commented Haziqq Aiman.
"This type of cockroach is common in restaurant kitchens, especially when cleanliness isn't maintained. Sometimes, these cockroaches hide in between utensils, plates, tissues, and various other places in the kitchen. The manager needs to regularly conduct thorough cleaning to ensure these pests don't multiply," commented Amy.
