KUALA LUMPUR: Another bullying case has allegedly occurred at the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) in Sungai Besi, involving a 19-year-old student who is being warded in a hospital for two fractures.
The victim, a first year student, suffered serious injuries including a fractured rib and spine after he was allegedly assaulted by a senior student at the campus on Oct 21.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said a police report was lodged on Friday over the assault which took place at 10.45pm, after the roll call process near the marching grounds of the university campus.
"The victim sustained fractures to his ribs and spine after being allegedly stomped on by a third-year cadet. He is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital."
Rusdi said the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and discipline within the university, although authorities have not yet released further details regarding the motive behind the assault.
