Elderly man rescued after fainting on roof in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: An elderly man who fainted while repairing his roof in Taman Khidmat here was rescued by the fire department today.

The victim, 68, reportedly lost consciousness while patching a leak on his roof.

Lintas Fire and Rescue Station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said they received a call on the incident at 12.12pm.

He said a team of 11 officers and personnel from the Lintas and the city's Fire and Rescue Stations, along with emergency response vehicles and the Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, were dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the team used a ladder and a Junkin stretcher to lower the victim safely," Guasi said in a statement today.

"The victim was given initial treatment by the EMRS team on site before bringing him to the hospital for further treatment."

He said the victim was reported to be conscious and in stable condition.

"The operation concluded about 1pm."
