KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will emphasise Malaysia's commitment to strengthening economic cooperation at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2024.
He said this in a Facebook post after arriving in Lima, Peru, to lead Malaysia's delegation at the summit.
"I will emphasise Malaysia's commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and fostering equitable and inclusive development."
Anwar is scheduled to meet Peru's President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra and engage with the Malaysian and Peruvian business communities.
"InshaAllah, I will do my best for the country and the people," he said.
Anwar arrived in Lima at 11.15pm local time on Tuesday, kicking off his first official visit to South America.
On Nov 14, Anwar will attend the APEC CEO Summit as a panellist for a session titled "Opportunities and Challenges in the AI Revolution".
On Nov 15, he will participate in the Informal APEC Leaders' Dialogue with Guests and the APEC Economic Leaders' Dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council.
He is set to deliver Malaysia's intervention at the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting Retreat Session on Nov 16.
During that session, Anwar is set to hold bilateral meetings with APEC leaders, including from Japan and New Zealand.
