Restaurant worker killed in hit-and-run, police seek witnesses

KULIM: A 33-year-old restaurant worker was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Permatang Tokdik, Padang Serai here, on Saturday.

In the 6am incident, the victim was believed to be walking near a petrol station when a vehicle struck him, causing fatal head injuries.

Kulim police chief Superintendent Mohd Azizul Mohd Khairi said police are still working to trace the vehicle involved and are waiting for witnesses to come forward with information.

"We need the registration number and type of vehicle involved in the accident to assist in the investigation.

"The vehicle is believed to have a broken left-side mirror and a damaged headlight," he said today.

He added, to date, the police have yet to receive a report from the driver involved.

"Those with information regarding the accident is urged to contact the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department at the Kulim district police headquarters," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
