PUTRAJAYA: Two men and two women were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into a road divider near IOI Conezion early this morning.
In the 1am accident, the victims were heading to Putrajaya from Kajang when their Perodua Viva skidded and slammed into the road divider at the intersection leading to IOI Conezion.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said the Sepang Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department was alerted to the incident at 1.20am.
"The driver and three passengers died at the scene," he said.
He said the driver has been identified as a 24-year-old man, while the three passengers are aged 27, 28, and 41, respectively.
A Malay daily reported that one of the women killed in the accident was pregnant. Norhizam, however, could not confirm whether either of the women was pregnant.
"The bodies of the victims have been sent to the Putrajaya Hospital for post-mortem," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
He also called on the public, who witnessed the accident, come forward or to contact Inspector Muhamad Haziq Ab Karim at 017-9076260.
