Ex-Tamparuli rep Edward Linggu appointed Dewan Rakyat senator

KOTA KINABALU: Former Tamparuli assemblyman Datuk Edward Linggu has been appointed as a senator in Dewan Negara.

The motion, proposed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, was passed by a majority vote.

Edward will begin his tenure on Dec 10 succeeding Datuk Noraini Idris, whose term ends on Dec 9.

Edward is the secretary-general of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star).

The Sabah State Assembly also passed three additional bills today.

Among them was the Parks (Amendment) Bill 2024, tabled by state Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.

The Agriculture Produce Board (Amendment) Bill 2024 was tabled by state Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan.

Additionally, the Islamic Adoption Bill 2024 was tabled by the state Science, Technology and Innovation-cum-Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
