KOTA BARU: There is a possibility of floods occurring in Kelantan after three main rivers in the state continue to record a rise in water levels following heavy rains last night.
Up to 3pm today, the water levels in Sungai Golok, Sungai Semerak and Sungai Kemasin had exceeded their warning marks, but were still below their danger level.
Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang was measured at 8.23m (0.23m above warning level), Sungai Semerak was at 2.58m (0.58m above warning level) and Sungai Kemasin at 8.36m (0.36m above warning level).
However, no evacuations had been carried out at press time.
Meanwhile, a survey at the Sultan's Pier here showed that the water level of Sungai Kelantan had slightly increased, but there was no danger of overflowing despite the non-stop rain since last night.
Several people were seen visiting the pier and taking pictures.
All state agencies were on standby for any eventuality of floods rising in the state.
