Flood victims in Kelantan rise to 80, four evacuated from Rantau Panjang

KOTA BARU: The number of flood victims in Kelantan has risen to 80 this morning, with four additional evacuees from Rantau Panjang brought to safety.

The flood victims, forced out of their homes due to rising waters, were evacuated to the SK Gual Tok Deh relief centre last night.

The four new evacuees bring the total number of displaced people at the centre to 36.

The others, numbering 44 people, are currently taking shelter at SMK Bachok.

Flooding in the state has slightly increased this morning, with two rivers exceeding the warning level, while another river has surpassed the alert level.

As of 8am, the water level of the Golok River in Rantau Panjang stood at 8.21 meters, 0.21 meters above its warning level of 8 meters.

Meanwhile, the Semerak River in Pasir Puteh recorded a water level of 2.35 meters, 0.35 meters above its warning level.

The Golok River in Tumpat was measured at 2.03 meters, 0.03 meters above its alert level.

Other rivers in Kelantan have returned to normal levels.
