KOTA BARU: The number of flood victims in Kelantan has risen to 76 people as of 6pm today, compared to 44 victims earlier this morning.
All the victims, involving 19 families, have been placed in two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Bachok and Rantau Panjang.
The PPS in Pasir Mas houses 32 victims, while the PPS in Bachok houses 44 victims.
According to the portal infobanjir.water.gov.my, the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) reported that only the Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang has exceeded the warning level.
The other three rivers, which had previously exceeded the alert level, have now returned to normal levels.
In Terengganu, the flood situation is steadily improving, with only 87 victims from 20 families remaining in four PPS across two districts as of 4pm today.
According to the Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee, the SK Simpang Rawai in Marang is housing 58 people from 14 families while eight evacuees from two families are seeking shelter at the Merchang civic hall PPS.
In Dungun, two PPS remain open, including the Alor Mak Bah Community Hall, which is housing 10 victims from two families. The other PPS at SK Tok Kah is housing 11 evacuees from two families.
Meanwhile, the public InfoBanjir website reports that only two rivers are still at the alert level.
The water level of the Sungai Nerus near Kampung Bukit, Setiu, increased to 11.8 metres, up from 10.5 metres.
At Parit Utama in Padang Kemunting, Kuala Nerus, the river level rose slightly to 3.26 metres, up from 3.2 metres.
