RM9 mil in traffic fines collected in 3 days

KUALA LUMPUR: Police collected over RM9.1 million in traffic summons payments on the second day of the 60 per cent discount offered during the 'Two Years of Madani Government Programme' (2TM).

Federal Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said public's participation in settling the summonses is a sign of growing civic responsibility.

"From Nov 22 to 24, 2024, 32,500 motorists settled 103,590 summonses totalling RM9,139,750 through various payment channels, including police counters, e-payments, and the MyBayar PDRM portal and app.

"Most of them involved offences, namely, speeding, disobeying traffic light signal and (causing) road obstructions," he said in a statement, thanking the public who had settled their outstanding summonses.

He said the department is studying the implementation of a nationwide fine reduction programme using a cashless system via the MyBayar PDRM portal and application, while also working to increase the number of registered users.
