Floods receding in Kelantan, only Sg Golok above danger level

KOTA BARU: Floods in Kelantan continue to recede today and only Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang near here has recorded waters above its warning level.

Up to 4.15pm, the water level at the river was measured at 8.40m (which is 0.40m above its warning level of 8m).

The water level in other rivers of the state, however, had returned to normal.

Up to 4.30pm, the number of flood victims at various relief centres remained at 76.

The 76, who comprised 17 families, were evacuated to SK Gual Tok Deh in Rantau Panjang and SMK Bachok when the first round of floods struck the state on Saturday.

The non-stop heavy rains also caused several low-lying areas in Rantau Panjang to be inundated between 0.2m and 1m.

The affected areas were Kampung Bendang Perol, Kampung Lanchang and Kampung Tersang.
