Golok river almost reaches danger mark following non-stop heavy rain

RANTAU PANJANG: The continuous heavy rain since Friday has resulted in the Golok river almost reaching its danger levels today.

As of 9.30am, the river was measured at 8.73m which is 0.27m below its danger level of 9m.

The continuous rain also caused three other rivers in the state to rise above their alert levels.

The rivers are the Golok river in Tumpat, Kemasin river (Bachok) and Semerak river (Pasir Puteh).

The other flood assessment points in Kelantan were still below their normal levels despite the heavy rains.

Meanwhile, checks showed that several low-lying areas here have been inundated by floodwaters since yesterday morning.

The affected villages include Kampung Tok Deh, Kampung Lanchang, Kampung Tersang and Kampung Terusan.

The villages have been inundated with between 0.2m to 1m of floodwaters.

Several enforcement agencies including the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Department were spotted closely monitoring the flood situation.
