ARAU: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has cancelled its MySawasdee train service from KL Sentral to Hatyai and vice versa, scheduled from today until 2 December, due to ongoing flood risks.
In a statement, KTMB announced that the cancellation of MySawasdee trains 1004 and 1005 was due to continuous heavy rainfall in northern Peninsular Malaysia and Hatyai, which has increased the risk of flooding in the region.
"Passengers will receive a full refund via the KTMB Mobile app (KITS). For assistance, they can contact station staff on duty or reach KTMB's Call Centre at +60 3-9779 1200 or via email at callcenter@ktmb.com.my," the statement, uploaded on its official Facebook page, read.
Previously, KTMB also reported disruptions to its KTM Intercity services on the East Coast route due to flooding and landslides in several areas, which have impacted passenger train operations.
The affected areas, deemed unsafe for rail services due to water levels exceeding track height, are located between kilometre markers 493 and 490.85, between Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah.
As a result, KTM Intercity services to the East Coast, including the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran No. 27 (JB Sentral–Tumpat route), have been cancelled since yesterday.
Other affected services include Ekspres Rakyat Timuran Nos. 26 and 27 (JB Sentral–Tumpat–JB Sentral) and the Shuttle Timuran (Kuala Lipis–Gua Musang–Tumpat) due to flooding.
