ALOR STAR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is today asking people to refer to its social media account for updates or announcements on floods.
This follows a viral message that the utility company is disconnecting electricity supply in flood-hit Anak Bukit and Kepala Batas.
"We wish to stress that the viral message claiming Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is disconnecting electricity supply in Anak Bukit and Kepala Batas in Kedah is not true.
"We urge the public not to trust unverified messages and to avoid spreading fake news," TNB Careline said on Facebook.
"However, should the floods get worse, become riskier and pose a danger, electricity disconnection will be done at the concerned electrical substations to ensure the safety of users in that location."
TNB Careline said people can report electricity supply disruptions or damage involving its assets via the 15454 hotline, private message to TNB Careline's Facebook page, direct message on X @Tenaga_Nasional or email to tnbcareline@tnb.com.my.
