PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), along with various agencies, has mobilised personnel and resources to support ongoing rescue operations in response to the recent floods affecting multiple states across the country.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) are leading these efforts.
Their responsibilities include evacuating victims, ensuring security and traffic control at disaster sites, monitoring high-risk areas, managing temporary flood relief centres (PPS), conducting supply operations, and participating in search and rescue and post-flood recovery efforts.
"A total of 1,672 police officers and personnel from the involved contingents have been deployed for flood operation assistance, involving 230 PDRM emergency vehicles and equipment, including 68 boats, 152 four-wheel drive vehicles, 51 lorries, 15 patrol cars, 13 vans, and one helicopter.
"Additionally, 818 Rela members have been assigned to assist flood victims in affected areas and at 706 PPS, as well as supporting PDRM in community patrol teams in flood-affected regions," it said.
The Madani KDN Ihsan Squad is also on standby to provide post-flood assistance to victims.
In collaboration with PDRM and Rela, other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), including the Immigration Department (JIM), the Malaysian Prison Department, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, the National Registration Department (JPN), the National Anti-Drug Agency, and the Registrar of Societies Malaysia, will work with the Madani KDN Ihsan Squad to coordinate cleanup efforts across affected districts.
"For those who have lost vital documents such as identity cards, birth certificates, and passports, JPN and JIM will offer free document replacement services.
"The important document replacement service by JPN will also be available through mobile buses in the affected areas," it added.
The Ministry of Home Affairs reminds everyone to adhere to the authorities' directives to facilitate assistance and rescue operations for flood victims.
The ministry also urges the public to remain vigilant about current weather conditions and updates regarding the flood situation, and to take necessary precautions by staying informed through official announcements and mass media channels.
