Dewan Negara extends condolences on passing of Vadiveloo, Tun Daim

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Negara today extended condolences to the families of its former president Tan Sri G. Vadiveloo and former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, who passed away in October.

Dewan Negara president Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah delivered the message during the opening of today's sitting, requesting all members to observe a two-minute moment of silence to honour the contributions and legacy of the two prominent figures.

He said that Vadiveloo, who passed away on Oct 19, served as a senator from April 13, 1992, to June 12, 1995, while Daim, who died just some days earlier (Oct 13), served as finance minister from 1980 to 1982.

He described both individuals as principled figures, exemplary leaders, and respected friends.

"Their passing is a great loss to the nation, and their contributions will always be remembered. The Dewan Negara also extends its heartfelt condolences to their families as a mark of respect," he said.-- BERNAMA
