KOTA KINABALU: Another wanted criminal was killed in a shootout with the police early this morning at a building on Jalan Undan, near the Inanam Bus Terminal.
The 59-year-old suspect is believed to have been an associate of the three criminals who were shot dead in a similar incident in Beverly Hill yesterday.
Sabah Criminal Investigations Department director Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim said that acting on intelligence, a team from JSJ D9 (Special Investigation) raided a room in the building at 2.30am.
"During the raid, the suspect fired shots, prompting the raiding team to return fire in order to protect the safety and lives of the officers.
"As a result, the suspect was confirmed dead at the scene," he said during a visit to the site this morning.
The suspect, originally from Sarawak, was wanted for involvement in several criminal cases, including a murder in Sarawak.
"We believe the suspect was a companion of the three criminals shot dead yesterday, and with the elimination of all four, we have successfully apprehended this group of wanted criminals," he said.
However, investigations are still ongoing.
Yesterday, a police team from D9 JSJ Sabah shot and killed three criminals during a shootout at their hideout in Beverly Hill.
The three suspects, aged between 40 and 50, were from Sarawak and were confirmed dead at the scene.
