KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees nationwide has dropped by more than half to 14,303 up to 5.50pm today, compared with 30,392 in the morning (Dec 6).
According to the Welfare Department's Info Bencana portal, 4,370 families remained at 76 temporary relief centres in seven states.
In Kelantan, evacuees in two districts decreased to 8,973 people at 20 relief centres.
Tumpat recorded the highest number of evacuees with 7,052 people at 16 centres, followed by Pasir Mas, where 1,899 people are sheltering at three centres.
Kedah also recorded a decline, with 4,099 people from 1,234 families staying at 17 relief centres.
Kota Setar is the hardest-hit district, housing 3,701 evacuees from 1,119 families at 13 centres. Kubang Pasu is sheltering 398 evacuees from 115 families at four centres.
In Johor, the number of evacuees dropped to 617 at 16 relief centres, down from 966 this morning.
Segamat remains the most affected, with 416 evacuees from 123 families at 13 centres; followed by Tangkak, with 169 people from 48 families at two centres; and, Batu Pahat with 32 people from 10 families at one centre.
Terengganu reported a sharp decrease, with 333 evacuees at 17 relief centres, down from 1,230 this morning.
The majority are in Kuala Terengganu, which is accommodating 266 evacuees from 62 families at seven centres. Kuala Nerus follows with 67 people from 22 families at 10 centres.
In Perak, evacuees in two districts fell to 126 individuals from 43 families at three relief centres.
Maran in Pahang recorded 15 evacuees from five families at one centre, while Jasin in Melaka reported 140 evacuees from 36 families at two centres.
