Glitch linked to 6-hour Johor autogate disruption resolved

JOHOR BARU: A technical malfunction at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) here disrupted the autogate and QR Code systems at the bus passenger Immigration inspection zone, causing a six-hour delay at one of Malaysia's busiest border crossings with Singapore, yesterday.

State Immigration Department director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said 12pm network glitch was attributed to issues within the building's core switch, which is managed by TMR Urusharta (M) Sdn Bhd.

He said an internal investigation was initiated by the department, while they worked closely with the building management company to address the issue.

"By 6.30pm the same day, both the autogate and QR Code systems were fully operational after immediate corrective actions were implemented," he said in a statement today.

Earlier, the New Straits Times reported that thousands of bus commuters were delayed after a technical glitch disrupted the operations of all 46 autogates at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex in BSI, yesterday.

Rusdi added to prevent any future occurrence, the department will continue monitoring the bus passenger inspection zone systems.
