Sabil squad on standby for 2nd wave of floods

PASIR MAS: Umno Youth will continue to deploy its Sabil squad in states likely to be affected by the next wave of floods, its chief Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh said.

He said that 20,000 members of the squad nationwide were on standby in preparation for potential flooding.

"During the first wave of floods, we mobilised the full 20,000 members of Sabil squad. This time, we will divide them into several teams, as many areas may continue to face severe flooding," he added.

Dr Akmal said this after joining a gotong-royong (community work) to clean the Kemas kindergarten in Kampung Serungga.

He said that the kindergarten had suffered significant damage during the recent floods, and Umno Youth had donated RM5,000 to help with repairs.

"Many Kemas kindergartens were affected by the floods, so I will bring this issue to the attention of the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, as well as the Kemas director.

"We need these kindergartens, and others in flood-affected states like Kedah and Terengganu, to be repaired as soon as possible. We do not want our children to study in such poor conditions," he added.

Besides Kemas kindergartens, Dr Akmal said that Umno Youth would also focus on madrasahs and other essential infrastructure.
