MARAN: Continuous heavy rain today triggered a landslide at Kampung Aur Gading, forcing three people to evacuate their homes.
The three individuals — two men and a woman — escaped unharmed during the 11.30am incident and have been relocated to the Kampung Luit permanent flood relief centre.
State Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said the Maran fire station was alerted at 11.37am, and nine firemen were deployed to the scene.
"A five-metre-high slope, less than three metres from the housing units, collapsed. No one was outside when the incident occurred," he said in a statement today.
He added that firemen inspected the site and instructed the three villagers to vacate the two units near the slope.
They were temporarily moved to the nearby relief centre.
The Public Works Department and police have been notified and are investigating the cause of the soil movement.
The heavy rainfall that hit Maran yesterday also triggered a second wave of flooding today, leading to the evacuation of 160 people from 46 families to six relief centres.
