PUTRAJAYA: The Housing and Local Government Ministry today launched a post-flood aid mission via the Ihsan Madani squad to assist in clean-up and food aid delivery.
It said up to today, 125 volunteers from the ministry have registered for the mission, as the ministry has been given the responsibility to coordinate assistance for the central zone, specifically Selangor, in collaboration with the Economy Ministry.
"The mobilisation of the team is expected to begin on Dec 15 after the second wave (Dec 8 to 14) concludes."
The ministry is the latest to join the government's mission to assist flood-affected communities via the deployment of the Ihsan Madani squad.
After flagging off the Ihsan Madani squad, its minister, Nga Kor Ming, said the ministry has started mobilising its machinery via concession companies under the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation since last week to help with the post-flood clean-up in affected states such as Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Pahang.
He added that local councils and the Fire and Rescue Department have also been instructed to assist in repair work in the affected areas.
"The main machinery involves the Fire and Rescue Department.
"We have mobilised everyone, with all leave frozen and all our equipment has been deployed for the rescue mission, including boats."
