Firefighters rescue toddler trapped in locked car

TAWAU: A 20-month-old girl was rescued by firefighters after being trapped in a locked car for around 20 minutes at Kampung Airport Lama this morning.

District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Jemishin Ujin, said they received a call from the child's father at 6.49am, reporting that his daughter was locked inside the car, which had been secured from the inside.

A team of six firefighters was quickly dispatched to the scene.

"They used specialised tools to unlock the car door, and the rescue operation took about five minutes," he said in a statement.

"The toddler was unharmed and was safely returned to her family," he added.
