PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accreditation Certificate from the Standards Department, in line with its Strategic Plan 2021-2024.
This accreditation was granted to MACC's Digital Forensic Division, through its Digital Forensic Laboratory, on Nov 13 under the Malaysian Laboratory Accreditation Scheme, the commission said in a statement today.
The accreditation covers four areas: computer forensics, audio, video and image forensics, mobile phone forensics, and document handwriting modification and stamp impression forensics.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the recognition demonstrates the commission's professionalism in ensuring that its laboratory meets ISO 17025:2017 standards, the international benchmark for validating the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
"MS ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is a benchmark for the technical capabilities of the MACC Digital Forensic Laboratory to produce accurate forensic analysis results while adhering to aspects of management systems, analysis method validation, process control and laboratory personnel competence," he said.
"With this accreditation, our digital forensic analysis results will be recognised internationally, paving the way for cross-border collaboration in investigations and research."
The accreditation will enhance the technical support for investigative operations and boost MACC's credibility and reliability at the international level.
