AYER KEROH: Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh has confirmed that a reshuffle of the state government's executive council line-up will take place in the near future.
Ab Rauf, however, said the reshuffle would only involve a change in portfolios, with no individuals being dropped.
"There will indeed be a reshuffle, but I'm not replacing people, only their portfolios. There will be no new appointments, the exco members will remain, with only their titles (portfolios) changing. I want to emphasise that the performance of all Melaka exco members is very good, and I am highly satisfied with all those holding these positions, who continue to support my leadership," he said at a press conference at Seri Negeri today.
When asked about the reasons for the reshuffle, he said that it was to avoid overburdening certain exco members with multiple portfolios.
"Some of them have heavy responsibilities, so I want to streamline the portfolios by redistributing tasks among other exco members," he said.
Ab Rauf also urged the public not to believe unverified information about the reshuffle.
"This ship is sailing smoothly, so don't try to sink it. I see this administration as moving towards efforts that touch the hearts of the people. Therefore, do not believe rumours from certain parties, including speculation by the media, about this matter," he said.
