KUALA LUMPUR: The two siblings who survived a horrific accident involving five vehicles at Km204 northbound of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) last Monday are recuperating well.
Mazupi Abdul Rahman, 64, the paternal grandfather of the two children, said they were discharged today after surgery.
"They are now stable and recovering, and will continue with their follow-up treatments at Serdang Hospital's Orthopaedics Department and the Kuala Lumpur Hospital's Psychiatry and Mental Health Department," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Mazupi however, said that Muhammad Uwais Al-Qarni Khairul Ikhwan, 7, and Nur Sofea Humaira Khairul Ikhwan, 4, were still in shock after receiving news that both their parents and youngest sibling were killed in the Dec 23 crash, which also involved a tour bus, and three other vehicles.
"They will resume school once the doctors give the all-clear. I will take care of all their schooling arrangements," he added.
Muhammad Uwais and Nur Sofea Humaira have been discharged from Melaka Hospital on Wednesday evening after undergoing surgeries for injuries sustained in the tragic accident that claimed the lives of five members of their family.
The accident, which occurred during a tour, resulted in the deaths of their parents, Khairul Ikhwan Mazupi, 32, and Fadzlenna Ramli, 32; their youngest brother, Muhammad Umar, 2; and their maternal grandparents, Ramli Ab Wahab, 66, and Fauziah Jaafar, 69.
Two others also lost their lives in the incident: the tour bus driver, Noorisnien Khamid, 56, and a Singaporean passenger, Lamrah Asid Ali, 66. – BERNAMA
