PUTRAJAYA: High tides of up to 5.8m hit several coastal areas in Selangor's Sepang and Kuala Langat today.
A Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) spokesperson said its PANTAS Squad began monitoring high tides at 5.30am today.
The spokesperson said the monitoring was focused at recreational beaches at high risk of sea overflow, including Kelanang Beach, Morib New Beach, Morib Beach, Batu Laut Beach, Cunang Beach, Istana Bahagia Morib Road, and Tanjung Sepat Jetty.
"All monitored areas experienced seawater overflow, except for Tanjung Sepat Jetty," said the spokesperson.
Coastal areas in Selangor are on high alert to high tides.
MPKL corporate director Hashila Hamzah warned the public against seaside activities, such as swimming, picnicking, playing in the sand, fishing, and boating.
Hamzah said the seawater overflow had affected parking areas, beach walls, picnic spots and roads.
