TAWAU: An online cosmetics seller was assaulted by five women at a flat near here last Tuesday for allegedly having an affair with one of the suspects' husbands.
The victim, attacked at around 6pm, was threatened with scissors to her face, repeatedly struck with a television, and nearly had chili smeared on her private parts.
District police chief, Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin, said the 29-year-old Indonesian passport holder lodged a police report at 10.34am yesterday.
"The victim reported that on the day of the incident, five known individuals came to her residence and attacked her.
"Two suspects allegedly punched and hit the victim's face and body with their hands and a television.
"Another suspect pulled and cut the victim's hair while threatening her with scissors.
"As a result, the victim suffered bleeding in her right eye, bruises on her face, arms, and thighs, chest pain, and breathing difficulties," Jasmin added.
One of the suspects also brought a packet of chili and attempted to insert it into the victim's private parts.
The assault was witnessed by the victim's friend.
"A recording of the incident has also been circulating on social media since yesterday," he said.
Following this, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at the Tawau district police headquarters arrested all five suspects - two local women and three Indonesians aged between 20 and 38 - at around 2.45pm the same day.
"The suspects were brought to court this morning for a remand application to facilitate further investigations under Sections 147 and 427 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he added.
Magistrate Dayang Aidaku Amira Aminuddin granted a three-day remand after approving the application by investigating officer Inspector Vun Yu Wei.
