No thanks, no one is at risk, PKR Youth tells Pas counterpart

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim has declined Pas Youth's invitation to attend their rally to protest against purported threats to Muslims.

In a post on X today, Kamil said the rally was an attempt to impose a culture of fear among Malays.

He also said it was a populist attempt by the Islamist party's to gain support by stoking racial and religious sentiment.

"Thank you, but no, thanks. There is nothing at risk," he said, adding that the rights of Muslims must be upheld by elevating the dignity and standard of living of the people, strengthening the economy, fostering community unity, fighting corruption and promoting social justice.

Kamil, who is also the political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, urged Pas Youth to be more mature and responsible.

"Do not destroy the social fabric of this country with the fire of racial and narrow religious sentiments. This is not part of any religious demand."

Deputy Pas Youth chief Hafez Sabri yesterday invited the youth wings of Umno, PKR and Amanah to participate in a protest scheduled to take place at Masjid Jamek after Friday prayers.

Hafez said the rally is to defend the rights of Muslims and serves as a protest against senior DAP leaders and cabinet members Hannah Yeoh and Nga Kor Ming.

Earlier this week, non-muslim Pas supporters lodged a police report against Nga, who is Housing and Local Government Minister, over his remarks in response to criticism of a Christmas celebration held at his ministry.

Pas' partner in Perikatan Nasional, Bersatu, meanwhile, filed multiple reports against Yeoh, who is the youth and sports minister, accusing her of attempting to spread Christianity in Malaysia.
