RTD offers RM150 flat rate to settle outstanding summonses

PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced a RM150 flat rate for motorists to settle outstanding Road Transport Department (RTD) summonses.

He said the rate is applicable from tomorrow to June 30 for three traffic offences:

AwAS Summons (Summons 53A) — speeding violations or running red lights captured by the AwAS camera system;

Notice 114 (investigation interview notice); and,

Notice 115 (affixed summons notice).

"All three notices carry a rate of RM300, but we are offering a special compound rate starting tomorrow for six months to settle them.

"We have provided this rate so that those who have not paid their outstanding compounds can settle them immediately.

"If they don't pay, they won't be able to renew their licences," Loke said after launching the new Putrajaya RTD office.

He added that the decision was taken after two million outstanding summonses had been recorded nationwide since 2018.

He said road users can pay their summonses only through RTD counters, the RTD website, RTD kiosks, RTD mobile counters and the myJPJ application.

Those who don't pay their summonses during this period will face transaction restrictions after June 30.

He said that during the grace period, no demerit points would be accumulated, and the department would review the methods for implementing the demerit points system.
