KAJANG: The Road Transport Department (RTD) has advised motorcyclists who wish to enrol in the transition programme for Class B motorcycle licence to first settle their outstanding traffic summons.
Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the department was aware of numerous complaints from motorcyclists claiming that they were not eligible for the upgrade despite complying with the criteria set.
"It could be that these motorcyclists have outstanding traffic summonses or are currently blacklisted.
"Check if you have any outstanding summonses and settle them first," he told reporters after attending an enforcement operation at Jalan Bangi Lama on Friday.
Once they have settled their outstanding summonses, a subsequent check should show that they were eligible, he said.
"As of today, a total of 3.32 million riders are eligible to register for the transition programme," he said.

The government had previously agreed to loosen requirements for Class B1 and B2 holders to upgrade to a Class B licence.
Drivers with over 10 years of experience, even if their licence wasn't renewed on time during the pandemic, are still eligible.
The decision follows public feedback to the RTD, highlighting difficulties renewing licences during the movement control order (MCO).
The special transition programme, which began on Oct 1, allows eligible drivers with a clean record and not on the RTD blacklist to upgrade after two hours of training and passing a practical test.
