Woman dies less than two hours after her mother passes away

BATU PAHAT: A woman deeply overwhelmed by grief died less than two hours after her 84-year-old mother passed away.

The woman, Saonah Kasmi, 58, had arrived at her younger sister's house in Parit Sulong last night after being informed of her mother, Bayah Sadiran's, passing at 6.45pm and stayed for the funeral.

"She had heart problems, but that day, she seemed particularly affected by our mother's passing," Saonah's sister, Saripah, told reporters.

"When she arrived, she wasn't feeling well, but she pushed herself to come. She wanted to see our mother one last time. She sat beside the body, and after a while, we noticed she was motionless. We tried to help, but she didn't respond."

Saripah said they called for help, and a medical officer later confirmed that Saonah had passed away.

"We lost our mother at 6.45pm, and just a little over an hour later, we lost Saonah. It's unbearable," Saripah said.

"It's so hard to accept this. Saonah was very close to our mother. Every weekend, she would visit her, and now they're both gone."

Both Bayah and Saonah were laid to rest together in a single grave at a Muslim cemetery in Kampung Parit Lapis Maimon this morning.
