Mall donates boats to boost flood rescue efforts in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A shopping mall in Kota Kinabalu has donated 10 boats to support emergency response efforts in flood-prone areas such as Penampang, Kota Marudu, and Beaufort.

The boats, designed for narrow and shallow waterways, will enable rescue teams to reach affected areas quickly, particularly remote locations.

Beaufort Fire Station chief Mohamad Hasbulla Nenggok said the compact boats would significantly improve response times during emergencies. "Their manoeuvrability allows us to act swiftly, ensuring the safety of communities," he said.

The donation is part of Centre Point Sabah's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative, the "Save Our Society (S.O.S) - Boat Donation" campaign.

Public relations executive Meredith Madani expressed pride in collaborating with the fire department, saying, "Every effort, no matter how small, contributes to a safer Sabah."
