KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Youth has criticised several opposition politicians for alleging that the government concealed an addendum order by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve house arrest.
In a statement, PKR Youth accused several politicians and members of parliament of spreading falsehoods.
It named opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, and Perikatan Nasional's Datuk Rosol Wahid, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, and Fadhli Shaari among others.
PKR Youth said its members nationwide would lodge reports against those who slandered the government.
"This is necessary to ensure such slander does not go unchecked and to protect the integrity of national institutions.
"These baseless accusations are an attempt to smear the image of the prime minister and the Malaysian government."
Yesterday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the ministry nor the Prisons Department which it oversees, received any addendum order related to Najib.
In a press conference, Saifuddin said they only received a letter from the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department containing two "critical" documents, the minutes of the Pardons Board meeting and the official directive to implement the board's decision.
He said the directive included a summary of Najib's legal proceedings and concluded with the Agong's official decree on the reduction of the former Umno president's jail term and fine.
The press conference came after Najib's lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah revealed a letter from the Pahang Sultanate Council affirming the existence of the addendum order.
Najib had been sentenced to 12 years in prison with a fine of RM210 million after he was convicted in the SRC International case.
However, his prison sentence was halved to six years and his fine was reduced to RM50 million following his petition for a royal pardon.
