PASIR GUDANG: A seven-year-old girl with disabilities was found alone at a petrol station in Bandar Seri Alam today (Jan 7), prompting a police investigation.
Seri Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed the child was discovered by a member of the public at 4.05pm.
"The child was unable to provide her family's home address and was brought to the Seri Alam Police Station for further assistance," he said when contacted today.
It is believed that the girl left her home on her bicycle and travelled to the petrol station without her family's knowledge.
"We disseminated information about the missing child through the Seri Alam Community Group on Facebook to help locate her family," he said.
At 4.50pm, the child's family came forward to claim her.
"The family resides in a flat near the petrol station and said that they were unaware the child had left for the petrol station.
"The child holds a physical disabilities card," he said.
The girl was safely reunited with her family.
