#NSTviral: Ambulance crew praised for rescuing injured 'Oyen' from Elmina crash site

KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens are praising the four ambulance crew who went beyond their call of duty to rescue an injured cat called Oyen Elmina, found near the Elmina plane crash site on Aug 17.

Instagram user with the handle @miss_rashidahsalleh lauded the ambulance crew: "Thank you to the heroes and heroine from the Health Ministry that helped save Oyen.

User @richiebobbybujang said: "Thank you, Dr Zul (the vet that treated Oyen) and the (ambulance) team for taking such good care of Oyen. Thank you also to all who prayed for Oyen. See you soon Oyen Elmina!"

Another user, @kamacallif, said: "Thank you so much to the heroes who helped save Oyen Elmina and those on duty during the tragedy. Thank you to all the good samaritans. I wish you a speedy recovery, Oyen Elmina."

In an Instagram post, veterinarian Dr Zul Erwan Azmi, with the handle @zulerwan, shared an update on Oyen Elmina, including a visit from the ambulance crew members that went above and beyond to save the cat's lives.

"Earlier, the clinic received a visit from the Health Ministry's ambulance team that saved Oyen's life.

"They are Mohd Azwa Mohd Zain, Arlyia, Richie Bobby Bujang, and Tommy Leo Rahsak.

"They are the true heroes to Oyen Elmina," he said.

In a separate post on TikTok, Dr Zul Erwan said Oyen Elmina had become so popular among the netizens that many of them had reached out to adopt the ginger cat.

"The clinic has received many messages and calls wanting to adopt Oyen, but we have to turn them down because one of the ambulance crew members has already adopted the cat.

In the afternoon of Aug 17, a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) crashed near Elmina, Shah Alam, during its final approach into Subang Airport.

The incident had claimed the lives of 10 people, with eight onboard the aircraft while the remaining were a car driver and a motorcyclist.
