KUALA LUMPUR: In an unprecedented step, a Korean beauty brand has censored controversial actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas's face in their Ramadan advertisement.
Kitsui Malaysia said in a posting that it vehemently does not support any quarters who engage in bad behaviour.
The advertisement also featured singer Wany Hasrita and actor Hisyam Hamid.
Due to the recent controversies, Kitsui Malaysia had pixelated or, in other words, censored Ruhainies' face in the advertisement.
It clarified that the selection of talents for the advertisement was done as early as October last year.
"Regarding the allegations of being caught in a khalwat case faced by one of the actors (in the advertisement), Kitsui hopes it will not affect the ad airing as the recording was completed in Dec 2023 involving 100 production crew members.
"Kitsui does not support any party engaging in bad behavior or controversy," it said.
It was earlier reported that a married celebrity and his partner, an actress, were arrested for khalwat after being accused of being together at a luxury condominium.
Following the incident, Ruhainies and her partner actor Aliff Aziz each reportedly promised to provide further explanations regarding the controversy.
Netizens applaud the brand over their bold move.
