KUALA LUMPUR: A video capturing a motorcyclist being catapulted into the air after colliding with a car that had allegedly run a red light, has drawn comments from netizens after going viral.
The dashcam footage showed the car turning into a road at a traffic light junction along Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah near the Seremban International Golf Club (SIGC).
A motorcyclist travelling in the opposite direction and heading straight, impacted the left fender of the car. The impact sent the motorcyclist flying, landing several metres away on the asphalt. The accident occurred because the car had apparently run the red light.
Seremban district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the incident, which involved a 44-year-old man on a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle and a Nissan Sentra driven by a female senior citizen, took place at 10.35am last Wednesday.
The victim sustained injuries to his face and body, and was rushed to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital.
"Yes, the fault lies squarely with the driver. To all drivers and riders, when you approach a junction, even (when) the traffic light is green, do slow down (your vehicles) and check left and right before proceeding.
"Because some people don't use their brains when it comes to these things," said @izzuafficial_ on X.
Another comment from @HairiFauzi79, said everyone should be cautious on the road.
"It is dangerous when you stumble upon these kinds of drivers. Hopefully the rider is all right," he added.
