SERI ALAM: A footage of a man wearing a hoodie alighting from a luxury multipurpose vehicle, before making off with a parcel stolen from a house's fence in Taman Desa Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram, here, left netizens perplexed.
The 41-second-footage captured on the house owner's closed circuit television, recorded the 'porch pirate' swiftly stealing the parcel and jumped into the black MPV, before speeding off.
Netizens commenting on the footage posted on JB Tracer II Facebook page, are both shocked and bewildered that the thief who could afford a luxurious vehicle could get involved in parcel theft.
District police chief Superintendent Sohaimi Ishak confirmed that the parcel theft had occurred on Thursday (June 27), and the 59-year-old house owner lodged a police report on the 3.49pm theft the same day.
He said efforts were underway to establish the perpetrator who could face up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both under Section 379 of the Penal Code, for theft.
