KUALA LUMPUR: A recent video of shoppers and diners at a mall in Kuching, Sarawak, standing at attention as the state anthem Ibu Pertiwiku played had garnered netizens' attention.
The one-minute video was shared by @dearfuturelala, who was dining at the mall's food court on the top floor.
Her video on TikTok captured the environment inside the mall, where most diners stopped eating and shoppers stood in respect to the anthem.
However, there was a cute exception for a little girl sitting in front, who seemed oblivious to her surroundings as she was too preoccupied with her handphone.
The camera then moved around to show how almost everyone respected the state anthem, especially the diners, who could be seen standing beside their half-eaten meals.
In a caption on the video, @dearfuturelala wrote "Respect for Sarawakians", together with a saluting smiley logo.
Netizens flooded the comment section to express how proud they were.
"I Like this, I'm really impressed watching. I feel like standing up too while watching this video," wrote @Alhadi.
"If we are taught from school, we will automatically respect the Sarawak state anthem... Proud to be a Sarawakian," commented @Adiman.
"It's great that we, the people of Sarawak, respect the song Ibu Pertiwi," commented one user.
"Salute to the true people of Sarawak. As long as we live, we fight on," wrote another user.
